Jessica and Smit

We are getting married! Now it's time to pack your bags and join us for our 3 day wedding celebration in Nassau, Bahamas!

Our story

We were both on a 6 week study abroad program in Sevilla, Spain during the summer of 2016. It was a small program with about 30 students through NC State’s business school. We did not know each other and had different friend groups in the program. About halfway through, all 30 students organized a night to go out together…

Let’s go back to June 2, 2016 (yes, we remember the date). It was a Thursday night at a packed night club in Sevilla. After an hour or two of enjoying the night with her friends, Jessica was abruptly interrupted when a guy (Smit) “accidentally” spilled a drink all over her. Smit was apologetic and insisted on buying her another drink. After hours of talking, we realized our friends left and the sun was rising. We checked the time on our phones (a shocking 5am!) and decided to linger around the city.

We made our way to the Plaza de Espana, a park in Sevilla, where we admired the beautiful scenery and watched the sunrise. At this point, we remembered that we had class in a few hours! We continued walking to Jessica’s homestay apartment where she went upstairs to change and get her backpack. A few minutes later, she came downstairs to find Smit fast asleep on the couch in the lobby (in hindsight, not shocking). She woke him up and asked if he wanted to stop for coffee on the way to class.

We continued on our way to a nearby cafe where we ordered coffee and sat down. After getting our drinks, Smit casually mentioned that he didn’t drink coffee (that would soon change), but he wanted to keep hanging out. Jessica smiled and drank both cups (also, not shocking).

Eventually, we made our way to class and each sat down with our different groups of friends keeping our magical night to ourselves. The rest is history!
